Question

MSVCR70. dll missing

May 9, 2014 12:47AM PDT

due to a failed HD I am having to re-install most of my programs one of which is Quicken 2004 Deluxe which I have been using for ever but on trying to open it I get the message that the above .dll is missing this is not the first time this has happened, last time I found a free down load so didn't use the disk this time I cannot find it, I still cannot fathom out why Intuit do not market the latest version in the UK, any help would be great

Answer
With the missing disc

All bets are off if it can be fixed. Along with Quicken (you claim they offer no support) your best options are:

1. Use google on the error message and try what others did.
2. Find the CD or look on Amazon.uk, ebay and buy one.

Answer
I see Amazon has it for as little as $9

I'm in the US, so I'm not sure about a British version, but I see Amazon has a number of 2004 versions for as little as $9 USD. Keep those install discs where they don't get lost!

Good luck.

This CD can be duplicated and even backed up to an .ISO file so it can go into our other backups.

Re: missing dll and backup

That backup you mean is the backup of your own Quicken data. Not a backup of the installation disk.

Anyway, it's safe to try the solution in http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21579151: just copy it from another Windows PC. It's only the visual c++ runtime, and the most serious thing that can happen is that your program still doesn't work, because it's the wrong version or because it needs another version.

installation disk

the installation disk is still ok, why I am missing the MSVCR70.dll I can't work out as it's not possible to just loose one file from a DVD/CD

Keep in mind I don't see the full error.

I know this sounds harsh but without more detail I can't see if it's been solved. We know that some 16 bit DLLs are no more. It won't matter if you drop in the missing DLL.
