1.) Try clicking here to download the latest version from Microsoft. It was updated to support Vista, so you may get lucky and have it go smoothly.
2.) Right-click the installer/executable, select Properties, select the Compatibility tab, and run it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2.
Hope this helps,
John
Hey guys. I'm new here. But I'm looking for some help.
I just this morning got around to upgrading to windows vista. And I've been able to install 99% of all my programs successfully. But one that seriously concerns me is the most important one...my ISP.
I have a CD of MSN 9 which I recieved from MSN several months ago. I've always used to reinstall it when I've had a problem. But since upgrading from Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to Windows Vista Home Premium. I tried to click on the install now on the auto_run command menu. And it starts copying the files that I need to click on to setup when it says "Error Registering OCX" and gives me the following file path name.
"C:\ProgramFiles\MSN\MSNInstaller\msnsign.dll"
So that happened halfway through the copying process so I'm guessing that possibly it may have finished. But it seems doubted.
I say this because when I click on the install shortcut it put on my desktop, the normal setup menu I see will usually appear and say "Please Wait, connecting to MSN." The comes up with the error after about 30 seconds with "Either our sign up servers are temporarily unavailible or you have been disconnected from the internet. Please reconnect and try again."
Funnny thing about this is that I'm trying to setup my connection lol.
I know my modem driver and hardware are working correctly. I've tested it through the "Connect to" dialog in vista.
Someone please help...it'd be appreciated. ^_^;
