Marcus, your question needs clarification....

What is your Operating System?

Does your question pertain to MSN Messenger (Instant Messenger), Windows Messenger (Instant Messenger) or Windows Messenger Service. They are all different animals and have different solutions. If you can clear this up, most likely someone can help.

Best of luck.

I have XP and I went to the control panel under remove software and uninstalled Windows Messenger, but it's still loaded on my machine.

Do I understand you correctly...

You want to uninstall/disable Windows Messenger, the instant messenger that came bundled with Windows XP. If that's it here are a couple of links for review and methods. First you should know uninstalling is not recommended and instead disabling is suggested as certain other Windows XP functions are adversely affected.

http://www.petri.co.il/uninstall_windows_messenger_in_windows_xp.htm

There are other ways of disabling or removing Windows Messenger that I will leave to others for instructions. Again I hope you are not confusing Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger which is removed through Add/Remove in the control panel. Maybe others will join in now that we know exactly what is being removed.

Best of luck,

Glenn
