MSN Internet Explorer 6.0 Problem

Apr 1, 2005 1:42AM PST

I am having a problem Signing Off from my ISP(msn 9.0).
My OS is Windows ME using Internet Explorer 6.0.
When I sign off I get a MSN Error Report message that "MSN Explorer has experienced an internal error and will have to restart". Viewing technical information about the message I get error signiture information and also a page that shows "Microsoft Online Crash Analysis High Priority Updates Available: Install Missing Updates". I have no critical updates to install. I have to restart my computer everytime I sign off msn.
I spoke with a technical rep from my ISP(msn) and was told, based on information I provided, that my error was located in "Object Leaking & Embedding" of Internet Explorer 6.0 and that my problem was not an ISP(msn) problem.
Any ideas on how to fix my problem?
I had previously submitted this problem to a different CNET Forum and appreciated the respone but thought I would submit it to this forum since I was informed by my ISP rep that it was a Internet Explorer problem.

MSN is shamefully like AOL.

When you have a problem with them, support is by them since they don't publish and share their support database. Unlike http://support.microsoft.com there is nothing to research here.

There is that nagging issue of SPYWARE which feeds on IE and MSN IE users. Are you sure your machine doesn't have SPYWARE?

Do you have MSN Explorer or Internet Explorer?

These are two different browsers although they come with XP. You can uninstall MSN Explorer to reinstall it but you can't truely uninstall Internet Explorer. For fixing Internet Explorer you have to do sfc /scannow and it will replace all the files that Internet Explorer uses with the original on your disk. But it will replace all the windows system files at that time too. You might be using Internet Explorer with the msn program you install that you get from the msn isp. I have had that also, you get a little icon by the clock you click to bring up Internet Explorer and connect. MSN Explorer has the butterfly by the clock and the close button.
