The service is a free one and as such they don't seem to offer support. This seems to confuse folk so I thought I'd lay it out for you.
As to the name change, why not create a new account with the names as you want?
Bob
I was trying to just change the user name of my msn.com account to a more professional user name for job application purposes. The original account name was userid@msn.com and I wanted to change it to newuserid@msn.com. However, due to how the website was set up, it changed it to newuserid@hotmail.com. I would like to have my account to go back to userid@msn.com. How do I do that? Microsoft/MSN webpages are completely useless and will not allow me to revert to my old account.
When I got the confirmation for that change, I was signed into my hotmail.com account and ended up accidentally changing my hotmail.com account to a live.com account. The original account was userid@hotmail.com and it is now userid@live.com. I want that account to return to userid@hotmail.com, but your webpage won't let me change that one either.
And, when I've tried to get help on their website forums, there is no answer, several pending questions identical to this one on the forum with no answers, and no phone number to get assistance. Any help would be appreciated.
