MSN Crashes If Option Is Selected

Mar 1, 2010 12:32AM PST

Hi,
The title kind of suggest what it is about. When i have the 'automatically log on when i log on to windows' box checked and my computer boots i get the message 'Windows Live Messenger is not responding and needs to close'. I dont know what could of caused this to happen because i havent done anything new apart from install 2 pieces of software/programming languages called blender and python but i highly doubt that is the cause. If you have the same problem or have the answer please help.

Thanks in advance Happy

Just to get this absolutely clear...

..and my computer boots. What happens there?

Your computer is on, MSN is loaded and active, and then the computer boots?

Or do you mean, when you turn on the system, (boot up), MSN is set to load at startup then crashes? If so, what happens if you remove MSN from startup, wait for the system to fully load, then start MSN?

It's not just a matter of, "I prefer it to load at startup". We're working on eliminating situations where it crashes.

It crashes when i have logged in. Its not a big deal because i removed it from startup folder and manualy loaded it and it worked fine but its really annoying.

That could be a clue.

As MSN works when you open it manually, this might be a clue about your Startup files. Perhaps there is too much going on at startup?

We all like the things we use the most to be available as soon as Windows loads, but having too much loading at startup often only results in the system slowing down, and possibly even problems like the one you have come across.

I wonder if it is time for you to review your startup applications and components, and see if there is anything that can be trimmed down.
