I doubt the need to go to 2070 or more. Here's why. The usual screen is all of 15 or maybe 17 inches so 1080p is fine there. Games run well even at 1440p 144Hz on the (old?) 1070 and we have another issue is that the full power 2070/2080 generates a lot more heat so the 2070/2080 in laptops is clocked slower and doesn't compare well to the desktop GPU.
This area is still developing so if you can delay, you should.
I built my first budget PC in 2014 with a GTX 960 and got a new GTX 1050ti laptop in 2017 and I don't see myself getting a desktop again. I've been on the budget side of things for far too long and I want a taste of what having a beefed up card feels like so I've been looking at the GS75 and fell in love with it.
I expect to have my next laptop for at least 4 years so I want to know if theres a chance I would regret not spending more for the 2080 model and I'd also like to know if there are other good options available to me.
