Question

MSI GP/GE/GS73 vs ASUS TUF FX705 vs ASUS ROG GL704GM

Apr 16, 2019 4:31PM PDT

Hello, consider this identical setup on the laptops mentioned in the title:
I7-8750H
GTX 1060
SSD 500GB NVME
16 GB RAM

With all laptops having the same hardware, how do they compare ? I'm most interested in built quality, durability, screen quality(not refresh rate) and cooling.

ThanksHappy

Answer
None are durable.

That is, I refer to what durable is in the dictionary. "able to withstand wear, pressure, or damage; hard-wearing.
"porcelain enamel is strong and durable""

The only durable laptops we saw were Panasonic ToughBooks and some affectionately called ThinkTanks.

That said we've had many Asus models in the mix over the years at home and office. A few MSI but no MSI gamers.

Notebookcheck does extensive screen testing. Find your models there to see how the panels compare.

Thanks for the answer. By durable I mean, I want to be able to use the laptop a good number of years without needing to replace parts. The laptop will be handled carefully, of course.

That still leaves parts that can wear out.

Most batteries are 300 cycle rated. I've had users wear down a battery every year. It's like a car that needs maintenance. I hope you can accept that the battery can wear out if you use it daily.

Most laptops at the office have hit 5 years if the users are not abusive. But once in a while folk want more. As in no repairs at all. At the office we'll replace a battery and a keyboard from time to time. These parts do wear out.
