Before I begin, I will mention that I have no issues turning the laptop on, or with performing any task unrelated to gaming.
I literally made an account to ask for help because I am at my wit's end. A couple of weeks ago my 1.5 year old laptop's battery bloated and needed to be removed from the laptop in order to prevent any damage to the components. I was planning on replacing it but it seems msi makes their batteries proprietary and does not sell them I guess in order to collect repair fees. That being said, my laptop has since had issues with shutting off while in game. My immediate thought was that it was related to the removal of the battery, so I switched the power supply to my backup that I ordered around the same time I received the laptop from amazon. This did not fix the issue. I then addressed any kind of heat issue that may exist by cleaning out the vents and fans and eventually even replaced all the thermal paste. The computer now idles at around 50C and will max at around 70C-80C while under load, which, by my understanding, is not all that high as far as laptops are concerned.
Upon launching any game, the laptop will sometimes run for 2 or 3 hours, and sometimes as little as only a few minutes before shutting off. In the past couple of weeks, I had an instance where the laptop did not shut down for 3 whole days. It is a shutdown, not a restart, which leads me to believe it is either a power or a heat issue, but I no longer know what exactly is causing it. I welcome any suggestions or opinions.
