Is there anyway to identify the origin or necessity of the items named in the startup tab? The naming conventions of some of these startups are so cryptic (purposefully, I suppose) that one really does not know if the files are essential or not. Secondly, how does one KEEP the files/processes/etc., from re-generating once they have been removed? I attempted the recommendation offered by another member using the "Hkey_local_machines\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig" path to remove the unwanted files, however, there was no "msconfig" folder/subdirectory.
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
