Feb 20, 2004 9:36PM PST

Does anyone know of a better replacement for the msconfig utility for trouble shooting startup problems, and where I can get it?

Starter is yet another free startup manager that allows you to view and manage all the programs that are starting automatically whenever Windows boots. It lists all the hidden registry entries, as well as the common Startup Folder items. You can choose to safely disable selected entries, edit them or delete them altogether (if you know what you're doing). Expert users can even add their own entries.

For a very strong package try http://www.xteq.com/. This program is stout enough to make your PC non bootable forever. BUT.....if you want total control on start up items and many other items, it is a must have.
