Tried to follow suggestions for speeding up the boot up. Could not find msconfig. Is it something else on Windows 2000?

Devices and Services applets and do a little registry editing as necessary. NT and Win 2K were not particularly designed for "user friendly" functionality and the user/admin is expected to know a bit about configuration.

Follow this link http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml and download and make use of Mike Lin's "StartUp Control Panel" and you might consider the Startup Monitor too to ease your way.

Why don't you try using startup cop a free utility that controls most prgs that load at startup.
You can use WIndows XP's msconfig on Win 2K. Go to MicroSoft (Ms) download it and install it.
