MSCONFIG

Jun 11, 2009 1:43PM PDT

My laptop is running very very slow on boot up and very slow to shutdown. So I tried to undo one program on start up using Msconfig. But when I did that now I have a pop up message when I boot up and the pop up reads "you have used the System Configuration Utility to make changes to the Windows....The System Configuration Utility is currently in Diagnostic or Selective Start Up Mode causing this message to be displayed and the utility to run every time Windows starts." What do I have to do to stop this and being new please give me the steps how to go about. Thank you very much.

zakaria, The next time that pop-up window appears just checkmark the "do not show this again etc." box and your problem will be solved.

If you disable the message

Disabling the message does not change the fact that you are in a non-standard startup. The message is only there to remind you.

Not being reminded you may forget that your startup is altered while trying to diagnose a problem, and that is all the altered startup should be used for.

What you ought to do is find out what is causing your startup issue and resolve or remove the problem. Then, get back to a regular startup, where the full MSCONFIG is used.

You do not have to use the full MSCONFIG to start your computer. Heck I use a altered start-up to make my start-up time faster by removing the programs I do not need to run right at start up (Medea players, office suite, and other programs I can start manually)
