MS xp office pro excell not starting, office CD setup error?

I'm having some problems with MS office xp pro, all of the programs work but MS excell.

When I try to start the program I get "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch package."

I tried to re-install the software from the office disks but get the same error when I try to run setup.exe from the disks.
