MS works 8.0, envelope printing problem

All my settings in MS Works are correct, but when I try and print an address on a #10 envelope, all that happens is the address comes out on a sheet of notebook paper instead of on the envelope that is positioned in the envelope slot on the printer.
MS Works 8.0/Dell printer # 946/ Windows vista UL.

Have a look in the printer properties ...

before you press OK to confirm your print settings. It could be that you should tell it to use the envelop slot by checking or choosing something.
Or it could be that the envelop tray should be selected automatically as soon as there's something in it, but the sensor is defective. The printer manual should surely tell about this.
