MS Word - Tab ?

Dec 24, 2004 3:25PM PST

I would like to know if there is a way to shift from one Word document file to another when you have more than one document/file open within the one Word Window/application ?

I am using Word 97 SR-1, and it will only let me have one Window/Application running at a time. ( Is there a way to have more than one ? )

Instead of having to minimize/reduce the size of each document in order to switch from one document/file to another. Something like the Alt-Tab key combo would be nice.

I am using 98se 4.10.2222 A.

You can cycle through all open Word documents by pressing Ctrl+F6 (or you can cycle backwards by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F6.).

Hope it works.

This was from a very useful site, full of tips for using word.

The site is here:

Ddesigns, Alt-Tab Works In Later Versions Of Word
Dec 26, 2004 4:42AM PST

In the newer versions, (I believe Word 2000 and later), each document is opened in a separate window. You might consider installing the newer version of Office/Word. I've got Office XP/2002 installed on my daughters Windows 98 machine and it works fine.

Hope this helps.

1. You can simply open multiple instances of Word (by default they overlay each other but show up seperately in the TaskBar).

2. You can open multiple documents and simply shift between them as was previously indiocated or by selecting them with the mouse from the Window menu.

3. You can open multiple documents then use the Window menu to Arrange All and all will show in the same view allowing you to copy and paste between them or whatever else you have in mind.
