MS Word and printer problem.

Dec 7, 2004 7:50AM PST

I have a Canon BJC-250 printer. Trying to print from MS Word I received these messages:
Canon BJC-250: Cannot print MS Word document. After the current print job is completed, try printing again. OK
There was an error writing to LPT1 for the printer (Canon BJC-250). The parameter is incorrect.

The document that wouldn?t print is the only job in the printer. I reinstalled MS Office97 Professional Edition because I received this error but it didn?t correct it. I don?t know yet if it fixed other errors. How can I fix this one?

Thank you to anyone that can help me with this problem.

Does the printer test in the Control Panel, Printers work?

The OS installed was not noted or I missed it. Please tell.

Does "NOTEPAD" print?

Hello Bob,

I always worry people will think I'm a ninny when things like this happen. I didn't think to try the test in Printers because I have been having so much trouble with MS Word since I reinstalled it. It doesn't matter anyway now. The printer is working fine today. I didn't make any more changes after I left this message but the printer is working fine today. If anyone has an explanation for that, I'm all ears.

I've never printed from Notepad so I wouldn't know if that works. I hardly ever use Notepad. BTW, the OS is Windows98 SE.

Thanks for your help. Now on to other problems. Maybe they'll solve themselves too so I can finish reloading my other programs back onto my computer. i've been trying to get to that point since November 9.

I know that story.

The owner takes the balky PC to the computer shop and it works fine there. And when he gets back home it still works. He calls the shop to ask why. The answer is:

"It just wanted to go for a car ride."
