Question

MS Word 2010 crashes in Windows 10

Aug 13, 2015 5:10PM PDT

Recently upgraded to Windows 10 but every time I try to open a document in Word it Word closes. The only way to edit documents is in safe mode. What can I do to fix this?

Plugins in Word 2010 ?
Oct 3, 2015 1:18PM PDT

Do you have any plugin in Word 2010? I had a Systran plugin that made Word crash. I disabled the plugin, and Word did not crash anymore.

I just installed 64 bit Office 2010 SP1 - works fine for me

I didn't have to install any updates, I just opened Word 2010 and it came up with no problems. I'm currently installing all the updates - about 900 GB worth. Maybe the fact that mine has SP1 pre-installed makes the difference, I couldn't say, but it can be made to work.

Good luck.

You have SP1 for Office.

I've lost count how many times Office (all versions) won't run or have issues without a service patch for Office.

Everyday users get confused about Service Patches and Service Packs. Some are for the OS, others are for the apps.

I'm sure you're right Bob.

I heard a guy on TV today predicting that all cars would be self driving in 10-15 years! I wouldn't consider it until after they'd been converted 100% in Redmond and Detroit for 5 years or longer. Laugh
