That area is not something XP does well. That is, treating CDRW as a disk drive. Here's an article about it and note section 8.
This area even with additional software is too flighty for us at the office so we load and save from the hard disk and write to CDRW later.
I recently installed Wins. XP on my computer. Everything went smoothly except for a problem with MS Word. When I try to save a document file on my CDRW, I receive an error messgae that that states: "Cannot SAve F:\Testnumber24 RTF. The folder is marked as read only. I can save email and spread sheets from MSExcel without a problem to the same CDRW.
Based on what I have been able to learn so far, MS Works 2000 may not be fully supported by Wins.XP. A work around would be to save the file to the hard drive then move it to the CDRW. This prcedure works but is a little clumsy. I wonder if anyone has found an update or a solution to solve the problem other then using a later version of MSWorks. It sure would be nice to be able to save a MSWord document directly to the CDRW. Bill
