MS Wireless Optical Mouse problem.

Jan 10, 2005 10:20PM PST

Using win xp sp2.

Have MS Wireless Optical Mouse, using Microsoft IntelliPoint 5.0 that came with mouse. Mouse is about 2 months old.

Last couple days the pointer sticks and I have to move mouse all over to get the pointer to move again. Also, when I click on something, sometimes nothing happens until I click on it several times.

Installed new duracell batteries to see if it was a battery problem, that did not help.

Problem is getting worse.

Did virus scan using AVG with latest updates, Ad-Aware and SpyBot, both with latest updates. Nothing bad found. Ran Hijack this about a week ago, no problems there either.

Any ideas why, and what to do to correct this problem?

Thanks

Ben

I did that and the mouse started working.

WHY would that make a difference if there is no roller ball?

I have just started to have problems with my wireless mouse. It bounces all over the screen. Changed batteries also. Customized the mouse pointing. Nothing seems to help.

I just completed a NAV scan and found nothing.

mouse pad??

I did a google search on wirelell optical mouse and found the color of the mouse pad can cause a problem.

The original mouse pad worked properly for a long time and all of a sudden it started actiong up.

I changed pads because of previous suggestion and my mouse started working properly again.

Couple days later, went back to original mouse pad just to check and now the mouse works properly on that pad too.

Who can figure, the joys of a computer.

I am having the same problem with my MS Wireless Optical Mouse. I was creating a word document. When I would try to tab to the next line, the cursor would stick. When I would click the mouse a second time, it would eventually move to the next line.
Is this a common problem with this wireless mouse?
