MS Vista and Office 2003 can no longer read ppt's < Office97

My system using MS Vista and Office 2003 can no longer read ppt's from prior to Office 97 (Powerpoint presentations from prior to 1997). Message when attempting to open an older ppt presentation reads "Power Point Viewer supports files created in Power Point 97 and later". Is there a reader I can access or whatever to recover these older presentations (business presentations that are still relevant today)? Thank you.

And had to re-enable older powerpoints. THERE IS A SECURITY RISK which is why an update turned it off.
