MS Outlook 2003 Stationery

Jul 30, 2005 10:42AM PDT

Experimenting with adding a background image to email in MS Outlook 2003.
I just got MS Office 2003. I did the "typical install". HTML is set as the default email style. When I open a new message window, click inside the message body then on the menu click FORMAT>Background the option "Printed Watermark" is not available.

Instruction state to add a backgroung image or color click inside message body, click FORMAT>Background>Picture. With mine there is no PICTURE option. What's up here?

It seems

you have to insert the picture first.

In the new blank document, goto Insert > Picture, and select "From file" and then find and choose your picture.

Once that is done, then you can goto Format > Background and the Printed Watermark option will be there.

Still not working

That still does not make the option "printed watermark" available for me.

Strange, it did for me.

But I didn't go further as the picture I chose wasn't a suitable one for watermarking. It was an image of an outer space field of view and so was too dark.

I'm not sure what else to suggest Walt, sorry.

a possible work around
Aug 22, 2005 11:15AM PDT

I had the same problem and was searching for an answer. A work around that I just discovered is to do the following:

-insert your picture in the document;

-right click on the picture and select "format picture", then choose the layout tab;

-select "behind text", click OK.

I would like to figure out how to make it a permanent stationery though, which I don't know how to do yet. Hope this helps...
