MS Outlook 2003 - Gates Takes Over the World!

Oct 4, 2005 9:24PM PDT

OK, just been forced to upgrade to Office 2003 including Outlook Pro.

Spent 20 minutes getting rid of the awful lines between messages, trying to get rid of the Navigation Pane at the bottom and generally putting things back to how I want them.

Then, I noticed the icon in the System Tray. A quick Google search showed that Mr Gates had once again taken control of my PC and I can't remove it, whether I want to or not!

Why is M$ still insistant on taking over peoples lives. Why can't they just build OS's that help you do the things you want instead of trying to tell you how to do it?

If they think people are so stupid they need to be lead by the hand, why not bring out one version for them and one for those that know what they're doing - perhaps call them Office Home and Office Professional!!

Anyway, is there anyone who can tell me what the registry hack is to get rid of this useless icon?

Cheers, Robert.
(Luckily I use OpenVMS to do proper work)

Removing Lines From Outlook 2003 Views

> View | Arrange By | Current View | Customize Current View | Other Settings

Grid Line Style = No Grid Lines

Uncheck 'Show Items In Groups' is probably a good move as well.

Hope this helps, Rob.
