MS Outlook

May 23, 2005 12:26PM PDT

Does anyone know what the file extensions are for the files in outlook for the mail, folders, address book and contact/address book? I need to do a search on my old hard drive to find them.

I installed ms office on my new computer and need to try and get my old outlook files into my outlook express.

I was planning on just using the import feature in Outlook Express, but for some reason when i installed ms office on my new computer and then accessed outlook on my old hard drive (i have hooked up via USB port externally) it is just opening up outlook like it's new rather than with all my old mail and folders I added etc.

So, my mission is to try and locate my files so i can put them back into outlook and then import them with outlook express.

My old files I'm trying to find
May 24, 2005 5:09AM PDT

are from Outlook. And I will be importing them to Outlook Express. Here's the deal. I got a new computer (eMachine T6212) I took the HD out of my old computer and have it hooked up via USB port externally so I could get to my old files. When I did this the actual programs would no longer open up no matter what I did. The main one I was concerned with was Outlook because I have a lot of important old email files I need desperatly. So, I installed MS Office Professional on my new computer thinking I would be able to open up my "old" Outlook and things would just still be there. NOT. It acts as if it's brand new on the external hd as well. So, I'm just wondering if someone knows where I could find the folder(s) that contain my previous Outlook files so I can ad them (however you do that) into my email program on the new hd.

I found my answer on the MS website and was able to locate my old .pst folder and imported it into my new hd.

Thanks again
