Question

MS Office Pro 2010 / Existing Outlook email option?

Jul 2, 2012 10:51AM PDT

Sorry if this is an existing thread - didn't locate it.

(Running Win XP)

Upon install of Office Pro 2010, is it an option to NOT "upgrade" Outlook Express, as the install prompts - and leave my existing email as is?

I really don't care for the layout of Outlook when it updates per MS O/P 2010.... not to mention the fact that I have misplaced my password for Outlook Express - and it is required when installing the new (to me) OS.

Thanks!

I answered about a custom install and didn't install Outlook. Did you notice that option?

Profitt - In all honesty, no, I did not see that option offered... and I normally do look for that due to all of the crap "advised" to opt for when installing any program.

I located my Outlook PW, and I will make the attempt again tomorrow evening and make certain that the option to opt out for Outlook upgrade is offered. Have you seen what happens to OE when the upgrade is done? It's a mess!

I appreciate the help -

Upon install, you are offered the chance to upgrade Outlook Express... I tried choosing "NO - Continue" and you then get the dreaded, "But-but-but... you MUST... or your OE will not be able to receive emails!" Really?
Why would it be mandatory to change anything to do with Outlook, simply because I am installing a new office program?
