MS Office for Mac 2004 or MS Office XP?

Jan 5, 2007 1:56AM PST

I'm buying a mac soon. Macbook 2GHZ 2G ram, 120g HD. Is it better to run the MS Office for Mac program or should I just load Office XP and run it through Windows on the Mac? I mainly plan to use Word and Excel and want the file compatibility with my WIN pc.

If you absolutely have to run an MS product

then go with the Office 2004 for Mac. You will still have full compatibility with your Win PC.
If you already have the Office XP, this is an old version, for Teacher & Student, you can install a copy onto your Windows partition of Boot Camp or onto the image file in Parallels, without being illegal.

I do have the old software, but

I'll try NeoOffice to see if it meets my needs. If that doesn't work, then I'll go with the Office 2004 for Mac to prevent any possible problems from running it through Windows. If it comes to it, I can always just run it from my old PC.

Thank you for the advice.
