MS Office Document Scanner problems

Oct 4, 2010 9:09AM PDT

I have Windows XP Pro installed and 2003 Office Professional edition. I also have a Lexmark X1185 all in one printer. Recently i had a comp crash and had to have a fresh install of Windows/ office including updates (service pack 3 etc). I also have the newest Driver update installed for the Lexmark printer - the some one I had pre-crash. Pre-crash MS Office Document Scanner (MSODS) recognized my X1185. I could use it to do OCR work. Since the reinstall MSODS does not recognize the Lexmark and so I cannot scan. When you open MSODS and click on the scanners section there is no scanner listed and no way to enter anything in the box. Any suggestions as to how to get MSODS to recognize my scanner so i can do OCR work again? I downloaded a free program that has limited capabilities but the OCR section is very inaccurate - MSODS OCR software worked much better plus could do multiple pages. the free will only handle one scan at a time - very slow & time consuming.
