MS Office 2007 over MS Office 2003

Jul 10, 2009 4:25AM PDT

Can I install MS Office Home and Student 2007 over MS Office Student and Teacher 2003? Since MS Office 2007 does NOT include MS Office OUTLOOK and MS Office 2003 does, I don't want to loose my Outlook that was installed with Office 2003.

YOU MIGHT BE SORRY!

I have just been at ebay trying to buy 2003! Office 2007 is the most frustrating program I have ever used. I have tried their tutorials and searches render nothing useful. I know this is not the question you asked but thought you might appreciate the input of someone who switched and regrets it.

I FOUND A FREEBIE DOWNLOAD

In another forum someone mentioned that you can download for free something called Ubitmenu ... I did and now when I bring up Office 2007, there is a new button called FILE and when you click on it, it's the old menu. Sure makes life simpler.

Along this same line...

I have MS Small Business Edition 2003 which came loaded on my machine when I purchased it from Dell. But I added MS Home & Student 2007, and now when I try to open Word/Excel/Powerpoint - it tries to go back to the 2003 version. I did not completely uninstall the 2003 version, as I need to keep using Outlook for my mail. Anyone know if there is a way to stop the dialogue box from coming up and trying to do the install. After you hit Cancel about 3 times, it will finally let you open whichever application you are trying to get into. I don't want to buy Outlook 2007 if I don't have to, but this is getting old. ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!!

RE: MS Office 2007 over MS Office 2003

I have recently found out that a friend of mine did exactly what you are proposing to do. He installed a copy of Office 2007 Home and Student, over Office 2003 (with outlook). After he did this, he prompted the Office 2007 to check for updates. When the updates were done installing his Outlook 2003 had upgraded to Outlook 2007. At first I didnt believe him, but I have used his computer and sure enough he has Outlook 2007 (and i did check out his copy of office 2007, it did not include Outlook).
