MS Office 2003 Problem

by mjmce / May 19, 2009 4:43 AM PDT

MS Office 2003 denied access after an autoupdate. Windows installer keeps popping up and stops due to an Installation File Error: Installation File SKU011.CAB could not be found. This is a legitimate MS Office program, but was pre-loaded on the PC, so I don't have a cd (do have install key). Any suggestions?

This seems to be a well-known problem, although for me it's new. But I think I can say I've never seen a problem that has its own fully dedicated website:

Hope this helps. If it doesn't, google SKU011.CAB for other hits.

Been there done that and it did not solve the problem. Calling MS for help costs more than buying a new program. Not surprising. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm sorry to bump you to another forum (I know... bad etiquette) but this thread explains one scenario with the same error problem and an MVP gives a solution that worked:

Re: was pre-loaded on the PC (a trial version?)

Was this was a Trial version of Office? Just because the real, official install of Office being preloaded does not mean you can continue to use it past a trial period.

If it was a trial version, and you have not purchased the key (you would have been sent a "key") then this install will time out. I suspect that might be your problem.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
