You said, "Everyone hates Microsoft. That is a fact and very often without reason".
I don't.
I'm not in Asia, but I doubt if Asian countries are the only ones where PC users don't have anti-virus protection. in fact I know it is a world wide problem.
Who's to blame? Where do you start? Cheap computers, 2nd hand computers, unscrupulous software, unscrupulous vendors of pirated Operating Systems, ignorance, people who won't pay for anti-virus protection, people who can't afford to pay?
I agree with what I think you are saying. Microsoft isn't the problem. It is the people who use it, (and abuse it), who are the problem.

Everyone hates Microsoft. That is a fact and very often without reason.
The fully updated IE 6 serves me well.
The people who complain all the time are those who could not find their naked teenie with one click.
They had to go to Google.
OK, I am also not happy about the security of the MS IE, but we all know how to protect ourselves.
I am getting furious when a Laptop-User 3rd-hand complains about a Virus.
"MS should protect us against this menace".
"How much do you pay for protection????"
" Why should I pay???????????" and that is exectly the point.
I can here still buy a car without any Airbags, without ABS etc. etc.
Of course the price is low.
I have an accident; my mistake; but, of course I blame all other parties involved.
So, who pays???
I am getting per month about 100 e-mails with a Virus.
Most of them are caught already by my ISP, but not all.
Most of the senders are my customers, turnover in business about USD 5.000.000,--/p.a.
Cost for Virus-Protection including Automatic Updates = USD 50,-- p.a. BUT THAT IS TOO EXPENCIVE.
FIREWALL: you must be joking.
I could write a book about this but there are already so many books, and who will buy them???
What to do? ------- Patience. Some people do listen, and they do the right thing.
But this group is a drop in the ocean.
I like to put this up for discussion, because I want to find out how it is in other Asian countries, and what is being done to make it better.
Thanks in advance to all C-Netters,
Harm
