MS Download for Office 2007 Files on Office 2003?

Jul 18, 2007 4:17PM PDT

Is the following link to an MS DOwnload on Microsoft's site the correct download for opening, editing, viewing, etc. MS Office 2007 programs (WOrd, Excel, Powerpoint, etc) on a laptop with MS Office 2003?

Specifically, the HP laptop with MS Office 2007 has Vista and MS Office Home and Student 2007 and also MS Outlook 2007.

The Lenovo laptop with has MS XP Professional Service Pack 2 with MS Office Professional 2003.

The following link mentions as an operating system (for the PC with Office 2003) Windows XP Professional 2003 but states Service Pack 1 and makes no reference to Service Pack 2.

I am now working on a research and writing project on a very tight deadline. My HP laptop has Word. Everyone else on the project has 2003. Only my supervisor needs to be able to read, edit, print and email my documents.

Is this the download we put onto her Lenovo?

We need to have this resolved and a download or workaround operational by this Friday, if possible.

Many thanks for helping with this urgent issue (which I would not have realized about until later this week if not for John sending me to look at the Synctoy link)! Happy

Alex

yes this download is the right one...but if you have problems installing it or have other issues, you can always save your files in the older 2003 format. all you have to do is when you save the the files click save as and then choose "word 97-2003 document"

One Other Note...

AFter installing the 2007 Office Compatibility Pack, make sure to visit the Office UPdate site and update all the versions of Office that are installed on that computer.. At this point in time, I believe there are 7 or 8 security updates which will install on the 2007 Compatibility Pack.

Remember though, you'll need to have full, legal versions of Office to get those updates at the Office Update site.

Hope this helps.

Yes, this helped. I always have legal MS software loaded. Thanks for the tip about the importance of the updates.
