Question

MS 2010 vs MS 2016

Mar 26, 2017 10:37AM PDT

I have just bought a Dell laptop that is not already equipped with MS Office. I am a pretty basic user -- email (Outlook), Word, some Excel, limited photo and video use. Would Ofc. 2010 work just as well for me rather than buying Ofc 2016 and get a lot of advanced features that I would never use for the higher price??? thanks

Which still uses MS Office 2003 (with the patches.) We are going to milk that to the end.

When I go get software today I head to ninite.com for reasons.

You can get LibreOffice and Thunderbird to get most of what folk use Office for.

Works fine. It's the standard where I work.

But before buying MS Office, try Thunderbird for mail and LibreOffice for word processing and spreadsheets. Both are free.

If you like them enough, stick with it. Only if not, buy MS Office or individual components or (not really recommended, because nobody likes it) use the mail app that's included in Windows 10.
