Which is better..mpeg2 or mpeg4? that depends on your conversion specification, but most likely it will not be better than what you started out with (mkv video). My suggestion would be to get a player that support mkv instead because to convert mkv to other format/s might take more time than you may like. Just my thought on this ..but good luck.
