MPEG Format

Oct 16, 2004 10:51PM PDT

I am looking for a camera that will download my video clips to mpeg file, (not mov), so that I can burn them on a CD with VCDEasy (it only reconises the mpeg files). The specs on the Kodak EasyShare DX7440 say that the movie format is "Mov,MPEG". Does this mean it will format in to either file? Please Help!

Even my dx6490 is unsure of what it makes since I post process or export it to mpeg with the supplied software.

I also have a Hp 812 that does make an .AVI (mpeg) file, but will not play on Windows without the HP codec. The file header writes "MPEG" but as you will learn over time, MPEG is not a true standard...

What software is it that converts the movie file to MPEG?

"What software is it that converts the movie file to MPEG?"

WHERE'S the rest of your question?

I'll share what I do on the HP 812.

1. Press the Sync button.
2. When the camera/PC are done I run the HP software.
3. I export the movie to an AVI.
4. Now I use VIRTUAL DUB to transcode it into a smaller MPEG format. In this case I'm using DivX 4.12 since that seems to be compatible with everyone I know.

In closing, there must be dozens of MPEG "standards" so I can't know what you want.
