MP3 with clear screen

Mar 3, 2011 3:35PM PST

I do not have good eyesight and need a new MP3 with good screen clarity to read file names, even outside. I don't need an all-singing, all-dancing player; iPod touch has brilliant screen resolution but is too complicated and too expensive for me.

I would like bookmark facility, also sleep function. A speaker would be good to have though not essential. I guess they all have volume controls.

I have owned 3 cheap but serviceable MP3s before - iRivers and Onix. These worked okay until they developed faults but screens were hard to read. I use them solely while out walking, listening to audio (speech) files podcast from radio so sound quality for music is not critical. I might in future want to download books.

I would really appreciate any suggestions as I have been going round and round in circles.

So far even 2GB capacity has been ample for my needs.

Reviews of MP3s don't cater for my requirements very well - can anyone suggest the perfect MP3 for listening to speech only with a good clear screen? I have owned 3 MP3s incl. iRivers and Onix - all pretty cheap but serviceable until they developed faults.
