"MP3 Trimmer" output won't go into iTunes

I tried using "MP3 Trimmer" to combine some tracks (from a recorded book) in iTunes. It doesn't seem to be able to put the tracks back into iTunes directly (I'm using iTunes 10.3.1 with OS 10.6.7), and when I save the joined files elsewhere, I can't drag them into iTunes. I can play them; they play in iTunes, but (unlike all other audio files) playing them doesn't copy them into the iTunes music library. I _can_ use the "Add to Library" command in iTunes; that seems to work, but why can't I just drag them?
