mp3 player with >30 GB, not necessarily cutting edge??

Jun 30, 2009 10:32AM PDT

my ipod was recently stolen, and i'm in the market for a new mp3 player. i'll probably buy it off of ebay, so what is a good (not apple) brand/model, circa 05-08? i like creative products, and because i'm using a pc i prefer to not rely on itunes.

If you're leaning towards Creative, they just released the Creative Zen MX, which is basically just the Creative Zen. Cheap, good screen, simple controls, and expandable memory. You don't have to spend over $150 or so to get a 32GB one. If you need more space you can always get an SD card.

I thought the Zen MX was limited to 16GB

The old flash Zen was available up to 32GB, but that version was discontinued a while back. Last time I checked Creative's website the only way to get 32GB was to get the Zen X-Fi. Not a bad player (I have one), but it's far from perfect. And it didn't work with using a Windows File Explorer (or any other file manager app), refusing to recognize and play any files that were dragged and dropped on it.
