mp3 player skipping

Mar 1, 2009 4:01AM PST

my son's mp3 player only plays about 15 seconds of a song and then skips to the next. doing the same thing. It's an element mp3 player, I think it's 2gigs. I have a Mac & I dragged and dropped the songs from itunes. It worked at first but then it started skipping. I trashed all of the songs and re downloaded them but it didn't help. Any ideas?

Not to sound cruel here.

But the ENCODING of the MP3 file must be just right. I can't write a tutorial about this but you need to scour the MP3 player's meager documentation to see what MP3 encoding it supports and then be absolutely sure you are giving it such an encoded MP3 file.

intro play ?

It's possible that the player has been set to intro-play -- i.e. it plays the first few moments of one song and then the next.

Check the settings

I tracked down the manual online ( http://www.elementelectronics.com/support.html ) and checked in the FAQ of the support area. Here's the step by step answer in case anyone else has the problem

Q: Why does my MP3 player only play 10 seconds of my songs and then skip to the next song?
A: Your player is in the repeat mode. To change modes follow these instructions:

Play a song and press the M key (GC-9XX) or MODE button (GC-8XX).
Highlight REPEAT and press the M key or MODE button again to enter your repeat options.
Select the INTRO option.
Select NORMAL or RANDOM option by highlighting your choice and pressing the M key or MODE button.

Thanks for your help!
