I record a lot off the FM tuner: seminars, lectures etc. High fidelity i.e. music is not a requirement. To my knowledge no "I-POD" player has an FM tuner. So, that rules them out. I'd like to have some thoughts on a brand and/or model that would be functional and foolproof. My op. system is windows XP SP3.

you sure you don't mean voice recorder? or are your seminars and lectures broadcasted on an FM band?
Most of the latest iriver have FM tuner and radio recoding features. I'll recommend them. I have seen the new lplayer is very small and compact.
