MP3 player for Mac users?

Dec 10, 2005 12:07AM PST

Hi,

I keep reading about how other MP3 players are better than iPods, but little indication about what alternatives Mac users have. I would like a player that I can also use as a voice/music recorder (for my chamber music) and the recorders for iPods don't get good reviews. (The new video iPod is said to have better recording capability but no microphone add-ons work with it yet and I don't want to spend that much). I use a Mac Powerbook G4 running Tiger.

Alternative MP3 players

Mac users have the same choice of MP3 players as everyone else. Most Mac users tend to go with the iPod because iTunes works seamlessly with it.
Over on the MP3 forum you will find may different opinions as to which MP3 player is the best.
How much do you want to spend??

MP3 player for Mac user with recording capability

Thanks for your reply. A while back I bought a voice recorder that had a good internal mic and mic jack and a decent inbuilt speaker that synced to my Mac with its own program but only used WMA files. I couldn't put MP3s or AAC files on it or bring its files into iTunes, so I returned it. There must be another way. I was going to buy a 30G color iPod with an iTalk, but don't know that I will get what I want. I am an amateur violinist and singer who would like to share my chamber music with friends and relatives and have it sound good. And I don't want to buy a music player and a separate recording device! It is enough I run around with a camera, cell phone and Palm PDA. I like the iPod being able to download from the camera too; don't know whether any other device can do that. I think even the $269 I would pay for the iPod is beyond expensive, but that seems to be the going rate for these things so I guess I am willing to spend that. I appreciate your feedback.
