MP3 player doesn't let me change songs!

Hi Everybody... Here is my problem.

I have an Mp3 player which is model Neway 256mb, bought last year, and I have a problem: Since some months ago, each time I plug it in the computer, the device is turned off automatically, then turned on for a few seconds, then turned off...
I don't really know the problem... Is it broken? Do I have to clean the USB wire? Does anybody now what I have to do? I will appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

By the way, I use Windows XP Home
