MP3 Player 100GB Hard Drive Question

Oct 21, 2008 2:57AM PDT

Im thinking about burning my collection of about 300cd's and putting them on a portable hard drive and or MP3 player.... Ive built a collection of music since I was about 12 years old, and now I want to have it ready to go anywhere anytime... So does anyone have a clue if I could fit all that music on a 100GB player or portable hard drive?

Thanks for your help,
Jake

A buddy got a new truck with the MP3 CD player. He was fitting some 14 audio CDs to one MP3 CD. So let's do the math.

1 MP3 CD is about 700MB.

300 / 14 * 0.7 GB = 15 GB.

Looks like plenty of space to me.

THANKS!

This should be a fun task... going through all my old albums is gonna keep me busy for a while.

experiment with ripping in different bitrates

and choose the one that sounds best to you. From there, you can figure out how much space each album takes at your chosen bitrate. Then you can figure out if 100GB is enough for you. It should as you have only 300 albums.
