MP3 instead of MP2

Dec 26, 2008 11:07PM PST

I recently got a new computer with Vista Ultimate. Since then when I try to download a MP3 file the only option I get is to save as a Movie Clip (MP2). All I do is right click and ?Save Target As? and then try to save the file as an MP3 but it won?t give me that option. Is there a setting or something I need to change?

i hope this helps!

hi, i recently had the exact same problem.

i figured the cause of mine to be the installation of an audio/video software: VLC. although i've uninstalled it, the problem still persisted.

i then did a system restore to a date prior to the installation of said program. and voila! it worked Grin

however, if your problem has been around since purchase, then i suggest you take it back to the agent or send it for service (this should still be covered under warranty).

if the problem has only surfaced after a certain date (probably due to an installation of a new audio software, adjustment of association files, windows update, etc.), then maybe you could restore your system to a date prior to it.

hope this helps! Grin

I have this problem
May 2, 2009 12:20PM PDT

the problem is that when I try to download a MP3 file the only option I get is to save as a Movie Clip (MP2) - same problem described above- and I actually did have VLC and took off - but that has been on nearly a year and this problem just started. NO other new software installed and just did system restore to earliest point I had - with no change.

Uggh - tried many different sites and they are not the sites - browsers - my XP still downloading them as mp3. This is such a huge issue for me I would appreciate any help available out there.
Thanks in advance
