unfortunately there are no multi gig flash drives out right now i think the largest i have seen is 1 gb but expensive ofcoarse...you are right about the hard drive based players because of the moving parts inside it can be easy to damage your device if you specialy use it for snowboarding a flash player would be the way to go. there is a fair bit of selections out there i snowboard myself and just recently i have bought me a samsung yp-60 its only 256 mb not as large as i would have wanted it but it is waterproof and its got lots of features including fm radio great sound quality rechargable lithium battery with upto 15 hrs and an easy to use menu + more, the head phones are abit uncomfterble but i can always buy others... now if your looking for space there are other players that have an expandable SD/MMC card slots and enable you to have as much memory as u want to buy...the reason i did not go with this is because if any water gets into the memory card slot your device will short out and you'll have nothing to listen to anymore
