Mp3/FM Radio with Built In speaker question

Feb 4, 2009 11:35AM PST

Hello,
I'm new to the Mp3 world but have been doing some research. Does anyone make a Mp3 with FM Radio (recorder)and built in speaker that plays both the radio and digital music through the built-in speaker? It appears most of them only play the digital music through the built-in speaker and the FM radio through the earphones only which makes no sense to me. I want to be able to listen to both, Digital Music or the FM radio through the built in speaker. Does anyone know if someone makes one of these? If not, will one of the portable case speaker systems allow an Mp3 with FM radio to play through the speaker?

Thank You

I don't know of any, but

I can tell you why fm is only through the earphones rather than the built-in speaker. That is because mp3 players use the wire in the earphone cord as an antenna. No cord, no antenna, thus no reception.

To play FM radio on the Creative ZEN Mozaic through the built-in speaker.

1. Plug in headphones (you need the headphones as they are also the antenna for the player)
2. Choose FM Radio
3. Press the Options button (the upper right button on the keypad)
4. Select 'Turn On Speaker' from the Options menu
