mp3 beginner: which do I buy?

Mar 15, 2006 3:01PM PST

Hi,

I am knowledgeable about computers, but not mP3 players. I have been doing lots of research, but there are SO many to choose from! If you can help me, I'd appreciate it greatlyHappy.

What I am looking for:

-lightweight, small, easy to run with (flash player?)
-under $100 preferably
-great sound quality (no skipping, crappy sound when running)
-holds 100 or so songs
-no shuffle (I want to pick songs like a CD player)

*I do not know what line-in recording is, so don't know if I need that or not.

Thank you!!
Wendy

Cowon i Audio U2? Samsung YEPP YP-mt6x?
Mar 16, 2006 5:59AM PST

Thanks a lot Chip! I was looking into this one (the SanDisk Sansa) and it has no line-in recording...I think I would like that afterall as I don't want to be limited in the future when I want to do more things with my player.

So I did more research and the Cowon iAudio U2 and Samsung YEPP YP-mt6x got great reviews on CNET for great sound quality, small size and good to exercise with. However, these are my dilemmas (since I am not very knowledgeable in this area):

1) the Cowon iAudio U2 does not have the capability to play WMA-DRM files according to one user review. Will this effect me?

2) the Samsung YEPP does have this capability, but the CNET review says "line-in encoding requires uncommon 2.5mm plug." Will this limit me?

Thank you for your help/patience!
