Have you heard such?

In reply to: mp3 and bluetooth

Not only is the sound awful over BT but the battery time would ...

Let's just say there's no matter for awful.

BT does involve a sonic compromise. But the on-the-fly re-encoding to A2DP isn't as terrible as some people who have no experience of it (That's you, Proffitt, in case I wasn't clear) would have you believe.

The real problem with BT phones is for me the handiness. Oh yeah, it's great to be wireless. But to charge it separately? It becomes a drag, and frequently the player is charged but the headphones isn't. I gave up on BT phones a long time ago.

In reply to: Insignia

I'll check it out. The best buy web site doesn't show the item, but some other sites do. Not good reports on the fm tuner, however. I'll report back. Any other feedback?

that's really interesting...

In reply to: thanks!

...because Insignia is Best Buy's brand. Anyway, I think it's their Pilot and Sport models. I really don't have any high hopes for the quality of their bluetooth, though. I believe it doesn't come with bluetooth headphones, you have to buy those separately.

If I feel like going wireless, I use the Logitech Freepulse. They sound pretty decent.

I'll check into Best Buy. The headphones that I've got are the Plantronic P590. Got them at Hammacher and Schlemmer. The headphones are outstanding, to my ears. They are the best bluetooth headset for use with my cell phone, they also can be used with nonbluetooth devices and mp3, etc. They are truly multitasking! Check them out...expensive ($200) but worth it compared to all the other ones I've tried. Also, the return policy with H and S. is great, even better for me, since I live in NYC, close to their store!

The latest Sony is Bluetooth enabled.

It's pretty good I have to say, but please refer to my caveat re: BT phones.

I'll look at the Sony....the store is nearby, as well.

I tried out the headphones with the ipod touch. works well, with the provided wireless adapter...just another item to deal with. maybe apple will bluetooth enable the ipod.

So far battery life with the Plantronics is very good, and recharging is just one more thing to plug in at night. Very crowded charging area!
