But I believe the first gen unit is now discontinued. The Fuze+ has replaced it and the price for the 8GB unit isn't all that much different these days than the Sony S544 (also 8GB). The 16GB S545 is just over $100 on Amazon, while the 16GB Fuze+ is right at $100.
As for alternatives: Samsung makes the P3 (also called the YP-P3), which supposedly can record off of FM. You'll need to check their website for its specs to be sure. Also not sure who still sells them, especially the lower capacity (8GB, 16GB) versions. The 32GB version is kind of pricey compared to the Sony and Sansa you're already looking at. Samsung also has the YP-R1 (8GB) for around $100; it has FM, it has recording...but I don't know if it has FM recording. Creative used to make devices that had the ability to record from FM, but that was some time ago and I don't know if they kept that function in their current crop of MP3 players.
I'm looking for advise on what mp3 player is the best bang for the buck. I attend many conventions that broadcast the program on a FM station. So I am looking for one that can record off the fm tuner after which I can download the program to my laptop. The programs are usually 6 to 7 hrs long. Can someone help me? I looked at the Scandisk Sansa Fuse 8GB and the Sony Walkman 545 16GB and noticed a huge price difference. Is there a better one out there?
I would appreciate any help- Thanks!
