MP 3 player for Arthritic Hands

May 31, 2007 1:26AM PDT

My grandmother at 101 loves my Ipod, but can not operate the click wheel due to arthritis. So changing volume and even turning off most players would be difficult. Can anyone reccommend a simple MP 3 player - buttons or knobs would be better. Also an easy recharge feature. It doesn;t have to be portable, and the shuffle mode is fine (She also has poor eyesight so she won't be selecting from play lists etc). She will only use audio files.

Get the Creative Zen Stone. It's like the shuffle but easier to use. You're WELCOME.

Have to say my arthritis isn't very far advanced as yet (knock wood), but I never liked the click wheel on the iPod in the first place (which is what got me looking at other players). I have to say I like the "circle button" on the Sansas, and they don't take alot of pressure to operate. The off/menu button is a bit small, however, but on the less expensive models, there are dedicated volume buttons on the top. I'm figuring someone else would be loading the device on the computer? Then the dedicated special USB wouldn't be a problem. As far as recharging, the M series takes regular batteries. You might also want to look at their new "Shaker", designed for children and families. You just have to shake it to change tracks, or use the large bands on top and bottom to change tracks or adjust volume. Largest capacity is only 1 GB, however. (Also takes regular batteries.)
