Mozilla Thunderbird email

Jul 10, 2005 7:40PM PDT

Am running Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 1
Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz 1GB RAM
I have broadband, using Netgear DG834G wireless firewalled modem but been unable to send out email for several days.
I have had to log into my server and use webmail to send, but emails are being received. I am continually being asked for my password to send, and inserted this correctly (I have to use the same one to access the webmail, so I know its right).
I then decided to delete the account settings in Thunderbird, close the programme and reboot it, reinserted my account settings, but still no go. Plus I found all my inbox correspondence gone! Tracked this down eventually and dragged it over to the new account, but whilst the folders and contents moved, all the recent mail not filed in folders has disappeared. Tried emailing Mozilla but had no response whatever.
Does anyone have an answer as to get my outgoing email working,
and
where are my emails that came today?
